Civic Activism Barcamp in Berlin

December 15, 2017

On 27th of January we will oraganize a Civic Activism Barcamp in Berlin. We want to learn from each other, how to do social actions from a grassroots point of view. It’s also a good moment to reflect on our march and the lessons learnt and to start new projects together.

The Civil March for Aleppo was one of the most influential civic actions for peace in Syria in 2017. However, our will to act – and to learn more about creating impact – lives on.

So this time, we bring you the “Civic Activism Barcamp“, which is all about learning how to do social actions from a grassroots point of view. We want to discover ways to contribute together to the world and find ways to channel the incredible energy that binds activists together. You are very warmly invited to come with ideas of your own projects or share the ways to contribute from your personal experience, work and life. You are also welcome to just join sessions and come with an open mind to learn more!

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference born form the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees.

If you are thinking about proposing a topic or a project you would like to discuss, you could give a 5-10 minute introduction and facilitate a discussion after. Topics could include but are not limited to:

  • online/internet/communication for social actions
  • organisation/structure/decision making process in social activism
  • fundraising
  • how to inspire an civil action
  • practical steps from an idea to execution
  • how to maximise your impact
  • different ways of activism: from petition to a protest
  • spreading the message, social media etc
  • conflict resolution
  • your ideas?

If you need more information about the Barcamp format, check out this page:

Please register on our Facebook Event Page and spread the word and invite anyone interested in social and civil activism to this barcamp day!!!

The day is free of charge. Lunch is organised with a picnic principle – everyone brings something so it adds up to a meal for everyone. There will be a soup available for lunch or dinner (according to general feeling) with a small box for paying according to your conscience 🙂
